BURUNDI ANGLICAN COMMUNION BIDS FAREWELL TO THE ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY

The Anglican Communion in the Province of Burundi had the great honour and privilege of welcoming the Most Reverend and Right Honourable Dame Sarah Mullally, Archbishop of Canterbury, during her historic visit to Burundi.

Her visit marked a significant and memorable occasion for the Anglican Church in Burundi, bringing together the bishops of the Province, clergy, church leaders, invited bishops from other countries, and distinguished guests from across the Anglican Communion.

The Archbishop of Canterbury was warmly welcomed upon her arrival in Burundi and received with great joy and gratitude by the leadership of the Anglican Church in Burundi. Her presence among the faithful was a powerful expression of the unity, fellowship, and shared mission that bind the worldwide Anglican Communion together.

The highlight of her visit was her participation in the installation of the sixth Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Burundi, the Most Reverend Eraste Bigirimana. The solemn ceremony took place at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, in the presence of all the Rt. Revd Bishops of the Anglican Church of Burundi, clergy, church representatives, invited bishops from other countries, and numerous distinguished guests.

During the ceremony and throughout her visit, the Archbishop of Canterbury offered inspiring words of exhortation and encouragement to the Church in Burundi. Her message emphasized the importance of faith, unity, service, and commitment to the mission of the Church in the midst of the challenges facing society today.

The Archbishop’s presence was deeply appreciated by the Anglican community in Burundi. Her words, prayers, and blessings brought encouragement and renewed hope to church leaders and the faithful across the Province.

The Anglican Communion in Burundi is deeply grateful for the privilege of welcoming the Archbishop of Canterbury and for the warmth, wisdom, and spiritual encouragement she shared during her visit.
