The Diocese of Rumonge welcomed guests from its partner organization, EDEN Mission, from 1 to 3 October 2026 for an important training on “Parenting and Child Development.”
This training was the third module in a series of teachings designed to strengthen parents and families in their responsibility to raise children according to Christian values.
The training welcomed pastors’ families and catechists’ families, who participated in the teachings and reflections on Christian parenting and child development.
During the three-day training, participants were reminded that raising children is an important responsibility given by God to parents. The teaching focused on several key areas of Christian parenting and child development.
One of the main lessons was the importance of teaching children the Word of God. Parents were encouraged to guide their children in faith from an early age and help them understand God’s love and His purpose for their lives.
The participants were also taught the importance of loving their children and being good examples to them. Children learn not only from what their parents say but also from what they see in their parents’ daily lives. Therefore, parents were encouraged to demonstrate love, kindness, honesty, patience, and respect in their homes.
Another important area of the training was preparing children for life. Parents were encouraged to teach their children practical and moral lessons that will help them become responsible and mature members of society. Children need guidance, encouragement, discipline, and opportunities to learn as they grow.
The training also addressed the issue of discipline. Parents were reminded that when children make mistakes, they need appropriate correction and guidance. Discipline should help children understand their mistakes, learn from them, and develop good behavior. Parents were encouraged to discipline their children with wisdom, love, and care rather than anger or harmful punishment.
Finally, the participants were reminded that children are a gift from God. Parents have been entrusted with the responsibility of caring for, protecting, guiding, and raising their children. This responsibility should be carried out faithfully and with a deep sense of love and commitment.
The three-day training was an important opportunity for pastors’ families, catechists’ families, and other participants to reflect on their role in the development of children. Through the partnership between the Diocese of Rumonge and EDEN Mission, the training seeks to strengthen families and encourage parents to raise children who know God, understand their responsibilities, and contribute positively to their communities.
The Diocese of Rumonge expresses its appreciation to EDEN Mission for its continued partnership and for sharing valuable knowledge and Christian teaching on parenting and child development.
